Importing data into Lectr

Importing Data

Lectr can import your reading library from several popular sources. Tap the menu on the Home screen and choose Import, then select your file. Lectr detects the format automatically – no configuration needed.

Supported Sources

Goodreads

Export your Goodreads library as a CSV file:

  1. Go to My Books on the Goodreads website (this is not available in the mobile app).
  2. Click Import and Export in the left sidebar (near the bottom).
  3. Click Export Library. Goodreads will prepare a CSV file for download.
  4. Save the file and open it in Lectr.

Lectr imports the title, author, ISBN, rating, reading status, shelves (as tags), date read, and review text.

StoryGraph

Export your StoryGraph library as a CSV file:

  1. Go to your Profile on the StoryGraph website.
  2. Click Manage Account.
  3. Scroll down to Export Your StoryGraph Data and click Export.
  4. You will receive an email with a download link. Save the CSV and open it in Lectr.

Lectr imports the title, author, ISBN, rating, reading status, and tags.

Calibre

Export your Calibre library as a CSV file:

  1. Open Calibre on your computer.
  2. Select the books you want to export (or Ctrl+A / Cmd+A to select all).
  3. Click Export (or use the calibredb command-line tool).
  4. Choose CSV as the export format and save the file.
  5. Transfer the CSV to your device and open it in Lectr.

Lectr imports the title, author, ISBN, rating, tags, publisher, publication date, and description.

Kindle (My Clippings.txt)

Import highlights and notes from your Kindle:

  1. Connect your Kindle to a computer via USB.
  2. Open the Kindle drive and find My Clippings.txt in the documents folder.
  3. Transfer the file to your device and open it in Lectr.

Lectr creates a book entry for each title found in the clippings file and imports highlights as quotes (with page or location numbers) and notes as notes. Bookmarks are skipped.

Lectr CSV

You can also import a CSV exported from Lectr itself. This is useful for transferring data between devices or restoring from a backup. The Lectr CSV format preserves all data including notes, quotes, and cross-references. See the FAQ on the support page for full column details.

Tips

  • Lectr checks for duplicate books during import. If a book with the same title and author already exists, it will be skipped.
  • After import, Lectr automatically looks up cover images and additional details for any books with an ISBN.
  • If something looks wrong after import, you can edit any book's details from the book detail screen.
